Sydney is passionate about creating a warm, supportive space where clients can feel heard, understood, and comfortable being themselves. She works with adults, teens, and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship concerns, life transitions, academic and interpersonal stress, and the challenges that can come with feeling overwhelmed or uncertain about what comes next.
Sydney has a particular passion for supporting women through infertility, pregnancy and postpartum concerns, pregnancy loss, birth trauma, NICU experiences, reproductive challenges, and other transitions throughout the reproductive lifespan. Before becoming a counselor, Sydney spent more than eight years working as a Registered Nurse in OB/GYN, Labor & Delivery, and reproductive medicine. This unique background gives her an understanding of both the emotional and medical experiences that can accompany pregnancy, childbirth, infertility, loss, and women’s health concerns.
Her style is compassionate, collaborative, down-to-earth, and trauma-informed. Sydney believes therapy does not have to feel overly formal or intimidating. Sessions may include exploring patterns, learning practical coping skills, processing difficult experiences, identifying strengths, and making room for humor and genuine connection along the way. Her goal is to meet clients where they are and help them move toward greater understanding, healing, and well-being.
Sydney earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Florida, where she completed her graduate clinical internship at the University of North Florida Counseling Center. She is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). Sydney is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (IMH29799) in Florida working toward full licensure. Her practice is supervised by Kim Norwicz, LMHC (MH19104), a Florida-licensed mental health counselor and qualified supervisor.
Therapeutic Approach
Sydney uses an integrative, person-centered approach that allows therapy to be tailored to each client's individual needs, experiences, and goals. She incorporates evidence-based strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Narrative Therapy.
Her work is grounded in trauma-informed care, collaboration, and respect for each client's individual story. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Sydney works alongside clients to understand what is happening beneath the surface, recognize patterns that may no longer be serving them, develop practical strategies, and build on their existing strengths.
Areas of Focus
Perinatal & Maternal Mental Health: Sydney supports women experiencing pregnancy and postpartum adjustment, perinatal anxiety and depression, infertility, pregnancy loss, reproductive concerns, birth-related trauma, NICU experiences, and the emotional complexities of motherhood.
